The hilarious footnotes and endnotes alone will have you giggling nonstop, as will the endearingly cheeky narrative voice throughout. If you yearn for humour in your stories look no further - it's constant and infectious and glorious. I don't know how the author did it, but he's managed to get deep under the skin of a young boy - and the result is just so wonderfully endearing. ![]() The author has been likened to a modern-day Roald Dahl, and from the moment you start reading you can see this is no exaggeration.Ĭopeland narrates Charlie's tale so skilfully, with so much wit, heart, and humour, you'll wish you knew this utterly cute gang in real life. I just read an advance copy of this book yesterday and oh my goodness - such a precious little gem of a story! Charlie Changes into a Chicken has become my absolute favourite Middle Grade fantasy read, and is hands down the funniest book I've ever had the pleasure of discovering. ![]()
